What type of organization can participate?
Any not-for-profit, civil society or non-governmental organization – you can have any type of focus, have any number of employees/volunteers and be from anywhere in the world.

What size organization can enter?
There are no restrictions regarding the size of the organization entering and entries are welcome from small, medium and large organizations based anywhere in the world that have been operating for a minimum of five years.

What format does the entry have to be provided in?
Based on the principles of sustainability, electronic applications are preferred. If you are unable to submit your entry on-line, please contact the International Business Leaders Forum who will assist you in applying according to your format capability.

When do we need to apply by?
The closing date for entries is midnight (GMT) 12th September 2008.

How will I know my entry has been safely received?
All entries will receive an electronic acknowledgement of receipt and Unique Entry Reference Number from the International Business Leaders Forum.

When will I be notified about whether or not my entry has been successful?
The International Business Leaders Forum will notify both successful and unsuccessful entrants about the outcome of their entries no later than 31st January 2009.

What are the tangible benefits of winning the Prize?
The Alcan Prize for Sustainability is a prestigious accolade and leveraging tool for the organization. The funding provides an opportunity to turn plans into realities that make a difference in the world.

How will we receive the cash associated with the Prize?
The Alcan Prize monies will be allocated over a three year time period agreed in consultation with the winner.

How is the Training Grant awarded?
An individual from each Grant Winning organization participates in one of these three approved courses:

• Postgraduate Certificate In Cross-Sector Partnership (PCCP), Cambridge University
• LEAD Fellows Training Programme
• Postgraduate Certificate In Environment, Development And Sustainability (Distance-Learning), University of London

Will a representative of the winning organization be expected to attend the Prize presentation?
Yes. As well, one representative from each Finalist organization will be invited to attend the ceremony. Rio Tinto Alcan will reimburse all reasonable expenses incurred with attendance (i.e., travel, accommodation etc).
